Welcome to Saints Mary and Joseph Parish

OUR MISSION: To Discover God’s Love so we might Love God;
Love others; and Grow as a community of Disciples.

Joy of the Gospel

Praise Be To You

“The joy of the gospel fills the hearts and the lives of all who encounter Jesus.” 1

This is the opening line of Pope Francis’ first apostolic exhortation, The Joy of the Gospel.

To help us embark on a new chapter of evangelization marked by that joy,
during the next several weeks we will be exploring a different theme at each weekend Mass.
The priests and deacons will preach on the theme, based on the readings for the day,
during the homily. The faithful will follow up by reflecting on questions
posted in a study guide on the parish website, as well as by reading
suggested excerpts from The Joy of the Gospel.

Spotlight, the Movie

The 2002 Boston Globe investigation into
the sexual abuse of minors in the Archdiocese
of Boston, will be coming to movie theaters in
November. For some, this film will be a painful
reminder of the abuse they themselves or someone
close to them may have experienced, and likely
will evoke emotions of sadness and anger in many
who see or hear about it.

How the Diocese Works to Protect Children

What Can We Do?

· Please pray for victims of abuse. This is one of the most powerful ways that we can support victims and survivors.

· Victims of abuse are encouraged to contact Joseph Naff, MSW, director of the diocesan Office for Healing and Pastoral Care at 669-3100 x 110, for help in their healing.

· The diocese reports to the civil authorities all allegations of sexual abuse of a minor by Church personnel, regardless of when the abuse occurred via the Delegate for Ministerial Conduct.

Cor Unum – One Heart

Committed to the truth that no man, woman or child should ever be hungry.

Cor Unum Meal Center is located in Lawrence, MA
where approximately half the population live below the poverty line
and 75 percent of the school age children qualify for government
subsidized food programs.

The Cor Unum Meal Center relies on the assistance
of volunteers to function. On October 23rd members of the pastoral council and
clergy volunteered to serve dinner and as one council member said
“the evening was a lot more than serving and clearing and cleaning up.
We had many beautiful, kind and tender interactions with these
children of God, our brothers and sisters”.

Pope Francis is begging us to serve the needy and the council is planning
to return to Cor Unum. If you would like to learn more and participate
