As one person I cannot change the world,
but I can change the world for one person.
Our mission is simple, we must work together- using the gifts that we have to try to bring a balance of basic social justice to a people who have so little. The mission of the Honduran team is fed and fueled by the support of those who live by a concept that people everywhere are connected by God’s love and that it is our responsibility to help those in need.
The Honduran Mission team of NH has been building team, collecting supplies, making friends for 24 years- 16 years with team members from the Salem area. We go with the hope that we can make a small difference for the people we meet, but we come back different, changed forever with a new and beautiful understanding of what God wants and needs from us. He wants us to see the need and use the gifts and talents He has given us to make a difference, so the work we do will spring from those gifts and talents. Our favorite part of the day, though, is to work side by side with the people of this country, whether painting a school, visiting children in a school, holding medical clinics, playing with the children of the orphanage, washing hair in the river, helping to build a water purification system for a community without clean water or standing in church worshipping God. Sharing not only our things but also our faith and being blessed to witness the great faith of a people who have so little.
We are blessed every year with so many who support the work of the team by donating all the supplies we take or by generously giving money so that we can get those supplies to our Honduran home base.
This past year we were extremely blessed to have received donations totaling $10,000 that allowed our team to purchase all that was needed to buy and build a water system for a community of 120 families. What an amazing and wonderful gift from ts Mary and Joseph Parish to the people of Cayo Blanco.

Each year, a team of volunteers makes a ten day trip to Juticalpa, Honduras, carrying much-needed supplies and devoting themselves to work among the poor in schools and local communities. The type of work varies year by year, based on present need and volunteer skills, and is done under the auspices of the Olancho Aid Foundation, run by a missionary priest from Boston. Prior to the trip, volunteers collaborate in raising money and gathering supplies. Our hope is that team members will find profound rewards as they extend their hands and hearts to God’s children in Honduras.

Our trip was amazing, amazing with the talents and love of the team and the generosity of the people of Sts Mary and Joseph helping us and praying for us along the way. We painted a church inside and out, washed heads in one of the poorer villages, played with the kids in the orphanage, visited schools and helped to judge a science fair and we witnessed Padre finally getting back to celebrating mass again. So many prayers answered. Thanks to you all!
In February of 2013 a team of 30 visited and worked with Padre Donohue in Juticalpa, Honduras. Our week was filled with health clinics, visits to neighboring communities, playing with the very young, passing out all the supplies that we have raised (3750 pounds) and taking the time to give love to the children in the nearby orphanage. Please keep the team in your prayers.
