What is Baptism?
"The first of the seven sacraments, and the "door" which gives access to the other sacraments. Baptis is the first and chief sacrament of forgiveness of sins because it unites us with Christ, who died for our sins and rose for our justification. Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist constitute the "sacraments of initiation" by which a believer receives the remission of original and personal sin, begins a new life in Christ and the Holy Spirit, and is incorporated into the Church, the Body of Christ. The rite of Baptism consists in immersing the candidate in water, or pouring water on teh head, while pronouncing the invocation of the Most Holy Trinity: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit." From the Catechism of the Catholic Church
The decision to Baptize your child Catholic is a big one. We are excited to be here with you through this journey. If you have a moment, check out this video from Bishop Robert Barron, as he talks about the importance of Baptism and becoming who you truly are as a Baptized Catholic.
What do you need to do to schedule your child's Baptism:
1. If you are not registered in the parish, you can do so HERE.
2. Once you are registered in the parish, you can register for baptism by clicking HERE. When you have completed this form, you will be sent a welcome email with simple instructions of how to register for Baptismal Classes.
4. There are two different options for Baptismal Preparation Classes: a Saturday session that is held once a month (4 hours long), OR three different class sessions. You will need to contact us for scheduling options.
5. Godparents will need to fill out a form and have it signed by the pastor of their home parish. This form can be found on the side bar of this page. Once these forms have been signed by their pastors, please send it to the parish or email it to [email protected]
As soon as the Baptism class is completed and all paperwork is completed, you will be able to schedule your child's Baptism.
All Baptisms are private and celebrated at either Mary Queen of Peace Church (South Campus) or St. Joseph's Church (North Campus).
It is truly a joy to celebrate this occasion with your family! We look forward to welcoming your child into our parish community and the Universal Church!
