This Lenten program invites people to place a cardboard container, found at the church entrances, in their homes, and put in it money that’s saved because of their fasting and sacrifices they gave up for Lent. At the end of Lent, the Rice Bowl is brought to Sunday Mass for the offertory. Since 1975, this practice has donated almost $167 million
used for development projects in poor nations and hunger relief in the local diocese.
