The proper disposal method of votive candles and other devotionals ( if they have been blessed) is to burn or bury them, preferably burned if they are blessed candles. Candles should be burned down entirely. Please know that it is NOT a sin to throw away items that have been blessed, but out of proper respect, one should dipose of them by either method. If devotionals have NOT been blessed (such as some of the holy cards that arrive in the mail), you may discard them without guilt. If you are still uncomfortable throwing them away, please know that there are wooden bins at both of our church campuses where you may leave them. Volunteers collect these donated items and send them to various missions. The bins are located in the main entry area at MQP, and in the downstairs hallway at St. Joseph, just outside the Family Room. Thank you for caring and discerning.
