The theme for this year’s celebration is “In Old Age They Will Still Bear Fruit” (Ps. 92:15). The theme is meant to emphasize how grandparents are a gift to both society and the Church. This year, Pope Francis is also extending the opportunity for a plenary indulgence “to the faithful who devote adequate time to visit on July 24, in presence or virtually through the media, their elderly brothers and sisters in need or in difficulty” .
“ I invite you to go out and look for those elderly persons who are most alone, at home or in residences where they are guests. Let's make sure no one feels alone. Visiting the elderly who live alone is a work of mercy in our time!”

Pope’s Prayer Intention for JULY: The Elderly
We pray for the elderly, who represent the roots and memory of a people. May their experience and wisdom help young people to look towards the future with hope and responsibility.
