Outreach volunteers connect the sick and homebound to their faith community by regular visits and by offering the gift of Holy Communion. The homebound and volunteers all experience the presence of God in these encounters. At Easter and Thanksgiving, volunteer families share their holiday joy by assembling food baskets for families in need. Volunteer families are always needed, as is help for the day of basket drop-off/pick-up. At Christmas time, a “Giving Tree” is placed in each of our churches to make a “wish come true” for approximately 500 disadvantaged children of the Salem area. “Wishes” are placed on the trees and taken by parishioners willing to fulfill those wishes. It is heartwarming to see people coming forward to bring joy to so many children! Volunteers are also needed for writing cards and sorting gifts.
