Our Mission: To discover God's love, so we might love God, love others, and grow as a community of disciples.
Honduran Update: All through the 27 years of mission teams and trips to Honduras I felt that the team would always be making plans, collecting supplies and raising money. Sadly that came to an end in 2020 with this past trip. I have been proud to take so many with me and have so many others helping me gather supplies and supporting our teams each year. It has been a mission of love for sure, but the amount of work to pull it all off has gotten to be too much even for an old pro. The Honduran mission team will still do a few fundraisers (recycling bins, bake sale at Mack’s Apples and the sale of gift cards) so that we can continue to take care of the special needs child, the young boy with cerebral palsy and help with tutoring for the children at the orphan-age. Sadly, the mission trips are ending. Thank you all for the support and encouragement you have given me through the years!

Diary and Pictures from the 2020 final Mission Team:
Happy Monday from Honduras:
Today was a jammed-packed day. We started off going over to the Bilingual elementary school Santa Clara and playing with the youngest kiddos in the bounce house. They had so much fun jumping and playing!
After we left there we went to Catacamas, where Oscar is from. We first stopped at the hospital to drop off all of the baby things that had been donated. The hospital does a program for those women who are pregnant to seek prenatal care. If the women come for all their checkups and postpartum care they receive a gift bag for them and their baby.
When we left the hospital we went to a children’s home called Family Life Missions. They work with the government to assist children in abusive situations. They house some of the children right there at the school and return them to their families or foster families when able. The school was amazing, complete with a sensory room for children.
After we left, Oscar took us to a place to eat and play at a water park. We were able to cool off a little bit and relax. They also had a small zoo with some animals... it was so fun.
After that, we left we went to the school where Andrea, (Oscar’s wife) works. They were so happy to see us and had a presentation for us. It was so beautiful. We handed out supplies and played with the children.
After the school we went to the water project in Catacamas. It also had a clinic attached to it regarding teen pregnancy and how to prevent teen pregnancy.
We left there and delivered a wheelchair to one of Oscar’s mom’s neighbor. She has uncontrolled diabetes and wounds on her feet and needed a wheelchair and we brought her a one-touch and some lancets to check her sugars. She was very grateful!
And of course we ended our day playing with the kiddos next door. Such a jam packed day!!
Oooh, and I almost forgot--we got a new person on the team. She is joining us for the last part of our trip and staying down here to join up with Clares team who comes down after us!
(Wednesday 2/26):Hey hey from Honduras!
Today was a hot one! We started our day off by painting a water project in El Encinal. The village was very welcoming and we were able to get the painting done in record time before it got too hot. We also were able to visit the school and give them supplies and give out things to the children. After we were done painting, the delegate had us back to their home for a wonderful lunch.
This evening we had the long term volunteers over for dinner which it is always nice to see them and meet the new people who are down here.
(Thursday 2/27): Hello once more from Honduras!!
Well what a last day here! We started off with mass for Ash Wednesday. We were able to spend time with the children of Nazareth and Santa Clara. It was a beautiful service.
After church we went to the hospital to drop off supplies and to get a small tour. Several people had donated breast pumps and the lactation specialist was very excited that we were able to donate these to her clinic.
After that we had some down time so Oscar suggested going to a place to swim since it was so hot out. We were able to swim for a little bit and then came back and prepped for the children from the orphanage to come over for dinner and cake.
The children were so exited to have dinner, we also had different flavored straws to put in milk which the kids love. After dinner we ate we had cake for all the children. And of course played some games.
All in all it was a great day!
