Our Mission: To discover God's love, so we might love God, love others, and grow as a community of disciples.
“The kids heard the church bells ringing and they were saying that they didn’t want to be late for KidsChurch!”
“My child just loved sitting in the whale and couldn’t stop talking about it all week.”
“My child asks on Thursday if it is the day for KidsChurch!”
At Saints Mary and Joseph Parish little kids are a BIG DEAL! We've created an environment for worship that’s appealing to grandparents, parents and kids of all ages. Mass is a time in which we give honor and praise to our God, and we want to introduce your children to God in a fun, educational, and age-appropriate environment. We offer three programs at our Mary Queen of Peace campus at the 9:30 AM Sunday mass. Here, children learn about bible stories and about Jesus, while parents get a well-deserved breather so that they may feel free to worship without worrying about their children.
Our Kids Church program is located in Room 2 . There is a monthly theme, which is reflected in the selected Bible stories. A typical morning in our Preschool Kids Church program: upon arrival, the children become engaged in several sensory activity centers with their friends, gather together for opening-prayer circle time, move and sing to praise and worship songs, and participate in a “hands-on” object lesson experience as a way to introduce the weekly Bible story message. We act out the Bible story for each particular week and work together on a fun craft which reinforces the weekly Bible story and message. Each week is filled with Faith, Fun, and Lots of Love! Our goal for Kids Church is to continue to encourage our young children to grow, learn, and worship together in our Lord Jesus Christ!
Our Children's Liturgy of the Word program is for elementary-school-aged children, and is located in the Emmaus Room at Mary Queen of Peace Church. Children begin at mass in the church with their families, are dismissed prior to the first reading for their program, and then return to mass at the Offertory. Our goal in this program is to bring the Bible stories to life for your children, and to transform these readings into lessons that become relevant in your child's daily life. Again, the readings are based on the lectionary and the message is consistent with the homily, so parents and their children are able to share a common church experience. .
KidsChurch program drop off is between 9:15 and 9:30 AM at MQP, with pick- up after mass.
All programs will have at least 2 adult volunteers along with teenage helpers if needed.
All volunteers have the necessary CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) background checks and participate in the Diocesan Safe Environment Program (formerly known as "Protecting God's Children").
