“EXPIRED” COVID-19 TEST KITS
As COVID-19 has been “around” for quite some time now, we all may have some “At-Home” test kits that have reached their “official” expiration date. Some companies’ kits may now have expiration dates extending to one year from date of manufacture. (Originally most were 4-6- months.)
CAN I USE THEM ANYWAY: Chances are that a POSITIVE result is still really a POSITIVE result. ( Especially based on being symptomatic with a Higher Viral Load. )
A NEGATIVE result -- not as high of a confidence level.
BUT …... To be safe, FDA has published a listing of Companies and their “ extended” expiration dates.
You can find thison the web. ( FDA.GOV --- “Listing of EUA Authorized Products”).
---You will need to know the Manufacturer, the current expiration date and the “LOT NUMBER”.
---OR: Contact the Manufacturer. You will need—Catalog #, Lot #, Date of manufacture.
