BAKERS, fire-up your ovens!!!!
PIEFEST 2023: Pie-baking contest is open to all parishioners and to the public at our Harvestfest fair.
HOW TO ENTER: All applicants should complete the online form below, and submit the $5.00 entry fee in advance thru this website only. Piefest applications must be completed by 10-10-23 to qualify. This event will have a maximum of 20 piefest entry participants, so apply now!
PRIZES- Prizes and bragging rights will be awarded to the first, second, and third place pies. The winners will be announced at the end of the fair, at which time the prizes will be awarded and photos will be taken. Please stay to the final part of the event to enjoy the award ceremony.
The pies will be sliced and sold during the event by our committee. The funds collected will go toward the church fundraising goal. All decisions of the judges are final. Please pick up your pie plate 1/2 hour before the end of the day from the pie table.
ENTRY RULES:
*Entry Fee and Application should be submitted on time (Oct 10th).
*Pies must be delivered at 12:30 PM on Oct 15th (the day of the event) to the "Pie Table".
*One single pie entry only per person.
*Each pie must be clearly labeled on the bottom with the contestant's name (bottom-only).
*We welcome all types baked pies, but no refrigerator-type pies. Pies must have a top and a bottom crust, no exceptions.
*Pies must have a homemade crust--not store made.
*A typed and framed document (must stand vertically) 8.5’’x 11" including a detailed recipe and a picture of the baker must be framed and delivered with the pie. You will be disqualified without this at entry.
JUDGING, based on 100 points:
Pies will be judged and graded on the following criteria:
20 Points- Appearance
50 Points- Overall Taste
10 Points- Clean sliceability
10 Points- Creativity- How original is this pie?
10 Points- PIEFEST recipe detail and 8.5" x 11" framed presentation
