“So, Who’s In Charge?” Weekly Reflection: 10/30/16

So, Who’s in charge?

Are you tired of all the election rhetoric going on? Everywhere – television, newspaper, radio, facebook ; mud-slinging, lying, name-calling. Are you looking forward to the election being over?

Well, I’d like to make a prediction. I predict, with confidence, that when we wake up on November 9th…

GOD will still be in charge of the universe!
GOD will still be seated on His throne in heaven.
GOD will still have the final say.

God’s authority does NOT depend on an earthly leader, king or president. “The LORD can control a king’s mind as he controls a river; he can direct it as he pleases” Proverbs 21:1.

Romans 13:1 says “Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is NO AUTHORITY except that which GOD has established! The authorities that exist have been established BY GOD!” (emphasis mine) God’s got this! We CAN trust Him, even when it seems things are falling apart.

When we feel like crying out “this country needs to change,” we are right. We need to get on our knees and pray. But we should not pray with our heads down in despair. We should not pray looking around at how horrible things are and how un-Godly others are. We should pray with our heads held high, looking up at God – after all, only HE has the answers! We need to be the agents of change. If we talk about our leaders the way they talk about each other, aren’t we just like them? For those who love the Lord, we should look DIFFERENT!! We need to be the peacemakers and agents of positive change. And most of all, we need to put our faith into true action, by TRUSTING God and His sovereign authority!

So settle down. Grab your calendar. Circle November 9th and write beside it, “this is the day the Lord has made, bought and paid for in full!”
