Through a consistent evaluation, in collaboration with the challenge of the bishops, middle school ministry is now embracing a family approach. We hope that this approach will be more family-friendly since families with children in grades 5 – 9 may be involved in the same class rather than 2 – 3 separate ones. The Home Study is also offered.
The Family Program will meet monthly (except for the Summer Option) and is open to all parishioners. It is faith formation for all ages, from children to young adults, to parents and grandparents. These sessions include Mass, a meal, faith formation lessons, and a home activity. This is not a drop-off program. Students attend with their parents or guardians. Participants will also be involved in the planning and sponsoring of a communal service and/or prayer event in which other parishioners will be invited to participate.
In ministry with you, we hope to offer opportunities for us to get to know our wonderful God even more, come to a deeper understanding of why God created us, how God has gifted us, and how God calls us to be. Because Faith Formation is meant to effect the way we live, we are each encouraged to participate in one of these experiences to further learn and be Jesus’ hands, feet, eyes, ears and heart for others. Middle School youth are also asked to participate in a retreat experience.
