“In my 55 years in this parish, I have been involved in a number of ministries. Two of them required direct interface with parishioners on a personal basis.
The Consolers ministry involved meeting with families that had just lost a loved one to help them make the final arrangements. Often the consoler was the first contact in the process. Many times we were singled out by the family members showing their appreciation for our care and consideration.
As a greeter for many years, I was part of a wonderful group of people that welcomed everyone coming into the church with a smile, a firm handshake or a hug. To this day, I still have folks greeting me around town that I have not seen for years that remember me for the welcome that was shown them at St. Joseph when attending services there.
I believe it is truly sad that anyone should not feel welcome when attending Mass or any other service with us. Everyone should make an effort, as Christians, to extend a warm welcome to all. The reward far outweighs the effort.” -Charlie Wheeler
“I came back to the church about three years ago, and came to this parish a little over a year ago. I wanted to join the bible study on Saturday mornings, so I called Anna Willis, and decided I would go. I was a little nervous not knowing anyone, but when I got there Anna greeted me with a big smile and a big hug. I was so grateful, and felt so welcomed!” -Norma Zimmermann
